Archive 2004CMC Electronics Signs Contract To Supply Honeywell With Next-Generation 24-Channel Aviation GPS Receiver
(MONTREAL, Canada and Farnborough International Air Show – July 19, 2004) - CMC Electronics Inc. has signed a contract with Honeywell whereby CMC will supply its latest generation aviation Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver that incorporates CMC’s advanced 24-channel GPS technology in an ARINC-743A sensor unit. CMC Electronics has added the next-generation Global Navigation Satellite Sensor Unit, the Mk-II, to its line of aviation GPS products. This latest receiver is designated the CMA-3024 and will be a direct upgrade for CMC Electronics’ CMA-3012 receiver, which has been installed on thousands of aircraft over the last decade. The CMA-3024 is designed to support a certification growth path from Primary Means Oceanic and Remote Area Navigation (TSO-C129a) to Primary Means Continental Navigation (TSO-C145a Beta-1), GPS Precision Approach (TSO-C145a Beta-3) and all facets of RNP/RNP-RNAV navigation. The first certification of the CMA-3024 is TSO-C129a B1/C1, with TSO-C145a to follow shortly. The heart of the CMA-3024 is CMC Electronics’ recently developed aviation GPS receiver, the CMA-4024. This receiver employs NovAtel’s Narrow Correlator technology and has 24 simultaneous signal processing channels, which support any combination of all-in-view GPS, WAAS/EGNOS or SBAS satellites. It is currently certified by the FAA to the functional requirements of TSO-C129a and includes software development compliance to DO-178B Level B and Complex Electronic Hardware development compliance to DO-254 Level B.
